Q1. Define TREASURE-TRESS
TREASURE TRESS is More than just a box. It started as a subscription box service for natural hair and has grown to become so much more. Community, sisterhood, connectivity and making black women visible in the beauty space have always been the main focus to TT. We’re doing this through more ways than one. Such as: pop up experiences, events, workshops, data reports, market research, content and more
Q2. As the founder of Treasure Tress, how do you feel knowing you started a business that’s been over six years and serving a community of over 50,000 customers across the UK and Europe?
It's a huge privilege and responsibility, to communicate with, educate, serve and create experiences for so many women in our customer base and wider community.

Q3. What gave you the idea of a subscription box?
Spending time in the US and seeing so many subscription box services for EVERYTHING, I knew the UK was missing out big time.
Q4. Following that question how did you come up with ‘The Teen Experience’ workshop and why?
Growing up, youth clubs were essential to my development, and sense of self as a young black women. Realising now they’ve pretty much all disappeared, it left me wondering what do these young women/girls have - how would they meet each other? How would they learn new skills outside of home and school? So I thought the Teen Exp would be the perfect safe space for them to grow and develop.
Q5. If you could choose anyone, (could be a celebrity etc.) Who would you want to work with you at your workshop and why?
Beyonce. No explanation needed.
Q6. How did you find your confidence to establish yourself internationally?
I grew up genuinely thinking of the world as a playground, and it literally being my oyster. Cultures fascinate me and meeting new people helps me learn. So it was never a matter of confidence, always curiosity.
Q7. What does a successful 10 years look like for Treasuretress?
The normalisation of textured hair. Products widely available, thriving communities, thriving black owned brands with strong marketing campaigns, distribution of our boxes globally - with ease and precision.
Q8. Advice to a younger Jameila Donaldson
Pay attention to your passions; they'll lead you to your purpose.
Q9. If you was stranded on an island, which one of your employees would you rather be with and why?
Not a fair question at all LOL. No comment.
